ROUND ONE AND TWO RESULTS:
By GoStanford.com at STANFORD, Calif. - Stanford men's golf shot a one-over 281 on Friday at Stanford Golf Course and will enter Saturday's final round of The Goodwin in second place. The Cardinal is chasing No. 8 Arizona State, whose 7-under 273 on Friday gave them a five-shot lead at 9-under heading into the third round.
Individually, six Cardinal shot even-par or better on Friday, as conditions were sunny and fairly calm throughout the day. Barclay Brown led the way with a 2-under 68 on the day to move in to the top 20. Overall, freshmen Michael Thorbjornsen (T11, -2) and Karl Vilips (T15, -1) lead the way for Stanford. Vilips shot a 1-under 69 Friday morning.
Playing as an individual, Daulet Tuleubayev has fired back-to-back even-par 70s and is tied for 19th at even-par for the tournament. Freshman Jake Beber-Frankel is 2-over for the tournament and tied for 29th after an even-par 70 on Friday. Senior Nate Menon, playing as an individual, had Stanford's second-best round on Friday, tallying a 1-under 69.
